Again, today when dropping my daughter off the kids were forced to wait outside and I noticed two kids that were there before 7am waiting.. makes me sad to be honest. We waited until almost doors open for my daughter to get out but one weird thing happened.. A faculty member came up to the car to tell us that we had to keep moving. I asked if the doors were open and she said no. I then told her that we will wait and she directed me to the other side of the parking lot which I would only be able to get to if we drive out and back in facing the huge line of cars again. I told her no and waited. We werent in any spot that could cause any build up in traffic so I was not worried and I felt that I needed to make a point. Issue is: They can staff people before 7:20 to bang on parents car doors and slap parents windows but they cannot staff an entry way or a gymnasium for the children to get in out of the cold.. I was told by the principal that due to union contracts, staff doesnt show up til 7:20 which was obviously a lie as there was staff present to annoy parents at 7:10. If only they staff (1) spot inside where kids can gather before school, the parents will feel ok to drop their children off and the congestion will go away as well as the threat of cold weather.. I saw many many other parents aggravated with the same situation today. A couple school board members are looking into this supposed funding for staffing at Oak Hill in the mornings to fix this issue but I will be attending my first ever school board meeting to make sure the issue is addressed.
