Agreement, Unity and Oneness By Tage Mathisen Tage Mathisen Print Friendly A word from the heart of God about agreement, unity and oneness! God spoke to us about Agreement, Unity and Oneness! It came so strong in our spirits that we were immediately empowered by what He released into our spirits! We knew that He would expand and bring us deeper into the truths of these words. The first word is in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NKJV) The Value of a Friend 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Christ Jesus tells us that no longer are we slaves, but His friend. And what He is showing us is the strength of unity that we have in Him. As friends of God we are called to unity in Him by His Spirit. The unity we have is a triple braided cord. Just like when 2 walk together with Christ Jesus, that makes a threefold cord that is not easily broken. We see that every day how our agreement in Him, leads to unity and oneness so beautiful. Our commitment to Christ binds us irrevocably to each other. We find our oneness in Him. John 17:21-23 (NKJV) 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. We begin to think, feel, hope and live out of this unity and oneness with Him and each other, and by that we see the purpose Of Gods call and His direction for us through Christ Jesus. When Christ is the source and center of a friendship, negative forces cannot pull us apart. There is a buffer of Christ`s grace when we fail or disappoint each other. We belong to Him and to each other in spite of what happens around us. Christ longs for us to know the same oneness with one another that He has with the Father John 17:11 (NKJV) Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. Walking in His Love Jesus by His Spirit teaches us to walk in His love to love, forgive and have patience with one another. Christ is the unbreakable strand in the threefold cord, it cannot be severed because of Him in us. Our praise goes to Him for truly great friendships in which He is the strength of the relationship. God led me to open Amos 3:3 (NKJV) Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? To walk together here, means to walk as a unit or AS ONE. Two people walking to the same destination at the same pace and with the same rhythm. They also must have agreed to take this walk of unity, as a unit with oneness. We practice this daily in our walk with the Lord. In Amos walking together is not meant to meet by chance and take a stroll... The root word in Hebrew for "Agreed" is to "fix upon" and also means "a summons to a set tribunal at a fixed time and place." The same word is translated "to betroth," indicating a mutual commitment. So the meaning is, "How can two walk in oneness unless they have met and go in the same direction?" The unity comes by being led by His Spirit and walking in His Spirit. There can be no unity with one another until we all walk with God. Think of Adam and Eve in the garden before the fall. They walked with God daily in intimacy with Him and each other. That is what God wants for us now too. Jesus paid the price so that we again can walk with God the Father in oneness with Him. Psalm 133:1 A Song of Ascents. Of David 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! To dwell in unity gives power! From God`s perspective it is a wonderful thing for brothers and sisters to dwell together in unity. As it is true for families, it is even more so for spiritual relationships. Throughout the Bible, we see that high priority is given to the subject of spiritual unity. Just before Jesus death, He prayed fervently to His Father that His followers would be brought to complete unity - like the relationship He had with His Father. In the book of Acts we can see how this wonderful spiritual relationship between brothers and sisters came into being after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. What was divided by the tower of Babel, God brought together by His Spirit at Pentecost. True spiritual unity flows from the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of God`s people. It is very good and pleasant for us and the Lord when we live together in deep spiritual unity. Acts 2:1 Coming of the Holy Spirit 1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. To be in ONE ACCORD means being unanimous, having mutual consent, being in agreement, having group unity, having one mind and purpose. What God also made happen when the Holy Spirit came upon them was that it brought them into harmony that led to action. The name God gave us over 3 year ago for our ministry called 1Soul 1Nation is interesting because in one accord means having one mind or being as 1Soul!!!! Praise the Lord. Matthew 18:19 (NKJV) "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." Think of what Jesus promised us in this verse. It reveals why the enemy wants to bring division between us. He knows when two walk in agreement with Christ Jesus ,it is a huge threat to the kingdom of darkness. God`s Kingdom is advancing enormously when we walk in agreement, unity and oneness with Him and each other.
