Aikido of Dojo Kuubukan: Shomenuchi Soto Kaitenage. youtu.be/jJ2Ud3Sb9ws Shomenuchi Soto Kaitenage is studied on 4th Kyu within our method of technical developments. Check empty hand’s study by the following link: dojokuubukan.es/grados_4_kyu.html In this work there are several aspects to consider: adherence, add and time. Adherence is to adapt to uke’s attack. Therefore we have to integrate Kokyu’s hand correctly which is going to meet Shomen, to beat us well to opponent and thus we add to the power of the attack which he already brings. Add is vital to make a good Kuzushi (imbalance), and quickly wrap to opponent on the exhale, with the aim of he does not recover to a right position. Time is essential to carry out the two actions we mentioned previously. If we do not suit it properly we may be late and therefore neither adhesion nor imbalance occurs; if we move before opponent he will detect our openness because we must take into account that there is emptiness with displacement too. To begin the study of this technique is performed in Menuchi, it does not in Shomenuchi. Then you are going to add more weight and speed into the attack. This is done to facilitate an understanding of the performance. In this video we have showed two speeds with different content in the attack: on the 1st repetition at a slower speed and with little weight in the Shomenuchi; and on the 2nd one with more speed and much more weight in the attack. Tori: Sensei Ishana Pérez. Uke: Alberto Luís Méndez. Photography and video: Jorge González. Warning: Performing these exercises without the guidance, instruction, maturation and proper guidance can lead to serious accidents.
