Alan Cummings Fighter Diet Athlete One thing people often take for granted in their training is unilateral or single limb work. It is easy to stick to the traditional bilateral movements using barbells or even dumbbells and moving the limbs simultaneously. In my workouts recently I have been taking note of what areas are slacking and where I need to improve. On days that I have been deadlifting I have been adding in lunges with emphasis on stretching out my hip flexors and really driving through the heal of my front foot. This allows me to focus on quad and glute activation while stretching out my troublesome hip flexor muscles. This day was deadlift 385lbs for 3 sets of 10 and 135lbs for 4 sets of 6 on the BB Lunges. We often have one side that is our dominant side and we use more than the other, even if we dont realize it. This helps balance any imbalances and can be great for adding size. Take a look. If you are right handed is your right arm bigger than your left? If you kick with your left foot, excluding soccer players, can you remember the last time you kicked a ball with your right? Throughout all the Fighter Diet programs you will find unilateral exercises every where. I personally feel that in a lot of peoples training routines they do not do enough unilateral work, partially because of poorly educated personal trainers or lack or their own knowledge. Do yourself a favor and give unilateral, single-arm, single-leg, whatever you want to call them a try and reap the gains! #FD #FighterDiet #FighterDietAthlete #FighterDietTeamAthlete #livelifelean #health #fitness #physique #aesthetics #workout #lean #muscle #liftheavy #fit #fitfam #fitfamily #fitlife #fitnessmotivation #fitstyle #instafit #gym #gymtime #gymmotivation #healthy #healthydiet #diet #diets #motivation #nutrition #marine Follow my Instagram page (@american_physique) for more pictures, videos, tips, workouts, exercises, nutrition, advice, and motivation!
