Alexander the Greats campaigns in Ancient India (SE Pakistan and NW Indian subcontinent) and the march back home. 327-324 BC. Alexander the Greats birthday week comes to its penultimate video. I discuss briefly: The small battles with Indian tribes in the valleys and the sieges of Massaga, Ora and the Rock of Aornus 327/326 BC. The question of Alexander as an administrator? Letters from Greece from Olympias, his mother, and his regent Antipater and the rebellion of the Spartans under King Agis III back home that was put down years before. Alexander scaring places like Taxila into submission. The move against King Porus of Paurava, not Pahlava, slight mispronunciation by me. The Battle of the River Hydaspes. 326 BC. (The River Jhelum). The death of Alexanders horse Bucephalus. Coenus and the soldiers refuse to follow Alexander across the Ganges into India proper. Alexander agrees to go home. Siege of Multan. 325 BC. Arguably Alexanders bravest action and the alleged saving of his life by his Molossian hound Peritas after he was wounded by an arrow. Briefly, Alexanders fleet under Admiral Nearchus (the Indica) and the Indian ocean and Gedrosian desert march back to Susa/Babylon. 324 BC Includes Alexander pouring the water from his helmet as an example to the army and the toll on the army and Alexander himself. Last video will be the final years of Alexanders life, his untimely death, what his generals did next and Alexanders legacy. I will discuss, my theories on his death, where the tomb/body of Alexander could be and why Alexander is important. I will also recommend some reading and films to watch for those who are interested in historys greatest military commander. Note: I have read all the ancient sources (Arrian, Plutarch, Diodorus, Justin and Quintus Curtius Rufus etc) at University and far too many scholars throughout my life on this subject. This has all been from memory. I do have a lot of reading and research with my masters at the moment, so be patient with me. :)
