All I can say is that I am blessed that I was not moved to be a social worker. I would not be able to barely function, rather less sleep at night, if protocol required that I put children back into situations they were lucky they did not get kidnapped, molested or killed in the first time. I feel empathy for most of the parents but little kids are completely defenseless. In the past week, one woman left her two sons alone for days in Los Angeles and another left her three alone in New Hampshire, both apparently to go get high. All the kids walked the streets at some point and could have been destroyed within seconds. Yet I am gathering that the mothers will get them back. Most articles dealing with child murders or torture lead back to a trail of prior situations when the system could have intervened. Does no one else see that pattern?
