All, Thank you for letting me join this site, my name is Nigel Morris and I served on HMS Southampton in the Gulf the night we were hit, good times. All if I may, I have never posted anything on this site before but I do this with the deepest respect for you all. Myself and Ian McVitie are the people who have written the Risk and Rigour document that was presented to the Sir John Holms Medal Review and also to Brigadier Brian Parritt CBE. This document was produced based on facts from ships Logs, Cabinet papers, Top Secret meetings held at 10 Downing Street, Also OD (SA) 82 papers letters from the Attorney Generals office along with the United Nations 1982. We have written this document with what we hope was due care and attention and also due diligence. This was out of total respect for those who hold the SAM with Rosette and rightly so along with all those brave people who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We have written this document on behalf of all 3 Armed Services and also that of the Merchant Navy, many of these people whom we will never ever meet and will never ever know us. There was a grave injustice served in 1982 with this medal and that was for political gain which has been pointed out in the conclusion report. Yes we now have 10,000 more people who will now hold the SAM without Rosette and this is rightly so. The facts are plain for all to see, my own ship at the time was HMS Diomede and part of 317.8 along with Birmingham and Southampton and many others which have all ready been pointed out. Which have been backed up by ships Logs, Signals, other official documents and are fact. I f I may take the Liberty to upload on this site the Risk and Rigour document myself and Ian have wrote and also The result of the Full HD Committee and Brigadier Parritts report from the Full HD Committee, this has now been passed through the house of Lords. Moreover I would like you to read these reports in conjunction with each other for all interested parties. I would also like you to note the backing that this has had from Task Force Commanders from 1982 and also that from SAMA. As I say I hold holders of the SAM with Rosette in the highest regard and commend you bravery. Please do not look at the new recipients of this medal with distain as they only did what was asked of them, and Risk and Rigour was fully met and has been proven. You may choose to remove these reports but please read them that is all we ask. We have all played our part in Operation Corporate 317.8 1982 however big or small that part may have been. We would also like to take this opportunity to that all SAM holders with Rosette for writing to the Medal Review Team supporting this. Its not the Critic who Counts Yours Aye, Nigel Morris & Ian McVitie.
