Aloha Gang, Heres a solid male Oio today. My clients biggest - TopicsExpress

Aloha Gang, Heres a solid male Oio today. My clients biggest Bonefish to date before fishing with me was a 6# he caught in Mexico. Hes been hooked and chasing after them since but has set the standard much higher today with an average size fish that we catch here, thus keeping the fact that anyone who lands a Boney on my tour will be their personal best. Havent met anyone yet that said otherwise. Hes already booked his next trip and will be bringing 3 buddys to boot. The is location was certainly fishy in the early morning. The wind was a steady ENE with some annoying gusts but I was glad I didnt have a spoiled Fly Fisherman that only likes to fish miles and miles of sand flats, clean water and no wind. If you want big Bonefish, go where theyre at but its not that easy with a flyrod especially. Knowledge of their swimming and feeding habits is key to success. Each area has different species of Crustacean and colors of flies they like as well. Thats why they hire me. Youll not learn or attain all the info I give you but I can assure you that if you have a good attitude and listen to what I say, your chances of hooking into one of these monsters is very good. A 15 minute battle that took him well into his backing with 4 solid runs each time just rocketing in the same direction telling me where the rest are at. After landing the fish, photo ops and high five all around, I changed his fly because it was damaged pretty good. 2 cast with the new fly in the direction and new instructions on how to world that area, he got onto a bigger one. That guy was pizzeria from the start and ripped line from his reel like no tomorrow. After taking over 100 yards of backing, the pole went slack but knowing Boneys, they sometimes make a 90° turn your direction and itll feel like you lost it. I had Matt my client reel as fast as he can but unfortunately it came at him too fast to reel and the fish was able to spit the hook. The Look On H is face looked as if he just went up against a Monster hes been waiting for and with mating season here for the Oios. Theres some bruisers around that are just absolutely insane.
