Alright guys, as some of you may know, I am an active firefighter in the state of West Virginia. I, as well as every other volunteer firefighters out there love what we do and would never ask a thing in return. I would like to share one of my on the job experiences with you all in the hopes that you will do the same. About a year ago, we at my department had what you we call a frequent flyer which basically means they call 911 for little things and very rarely go to the hospital. The man was in his early 60s and lived alone And was wheelchair bound. He had a home health aid that came in 5 days a week and assisted him with remedial tasks, (food, clothes, laundry). Well one day we get a call the the patient is short of breath and wishing to go to the hospital, when we arrive on scene we find him in his wheelchair in the middle of his living room. When I asked him whats wrong, he replied, and I quote, with a tear in his eye he said: Im truly sorry I brought you guys here at 2am, but when the aid left, she never got my laundry out so I have clean clothes, would you please help me? So, without hesitation, we Took his clothes from the dryer, folded them, helped him get dressed and left him with a smile on his face and clean clothes on his back. We made his night, as well as we felt better, knowing we helped him. Lesson learned? Dont take what you have for granted, because one day you may have nothing. -Andrew #firefighterfriday #payitforward
