Although my sister- and brother-in-law gave me the book over 10 years ago, I am just now committing to read Pastor Rick Warren s book, The Purpose Driven Life: What On Earth Am I Here For? On Day 3, Warren includes George Bernard Shaw s quote which resonates deeply in me. This is the true joy of life: the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clot of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. Wow. I am so grateful to God that He gave me the extreme purpose of being a wife and mother to a wonderful husband and 4 beautiful children over the past 30 years. As I seek His (not my) next major purpose for my life, I am excited about the possibilities of serving and giving to others, not looking for how the world can serve me.
