Although we as a country have come a long, long way, recent events prove that we certainly still have a lot of work to do. While there are much, much bigger wrongs to right, I have to believe that Dr. King would fully support #AutoErase and the fact that innocent people that are mistakenly identified and wrongfully arrested should not have the burden and expense of having that arrest record cleared. I have attached all 10 pages of the Illinois legislation that was introduced earlier this month, containing the #AutoErase language, and that is being used by legislators from 12 other states as a guide for drafting their #AutoErase legislation. As much as I would love to take the day Off and enjoy the 72 degrees, sunny LA weather, instead, Im going to make it a day On. I am committed to email one state legislator from the 37 states that are not yet engaged in the #AutoErase movement and inform them about this cause and ask for their support, their involvement, their action! Because I too now have a dream. -- that all of the country .... Blacks, Browns, Yellows and Whites, Jews and Gentiles, Rich and the Poor, Old and Young, shall not be mistakenly identified and wrongfully arrested. And, if and when they are mistakenly identified and wrongfully arrested, that after they are released as innocent that it automatically becomes the responsibility of the law enforcement agency that made the wrongful arrest to have that individuals arrest record cleared. If you havent committed to a community project yet for today, and you are looking to make this a day ON and not just a day OFF. Please live this dream with me. Download the below 10 images and look up your state legislator today and email her or him and help them become aware of the #AutoErase campaign! Keep the dream alive! Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!!!
