Although we celebrate the anniversary of Brent School in Baguio - TopicsExpress

Although we celebrate the anniversary of Brent School in Baguio dating back to 1909, the school actually did not hold its first classes in Baguio till January 1910. A typhoon washed out the roads to Baguio and kept students from arriving. So the first classes were held in Manila at the YMCA. In a letter dated December 17, 1909, Bishop Brent wrote a letter while in en-route from Guam to Manila. Towards the end of his letter he writes I expect you are kept posted by Ogilby (Dr Remsen Ogilby, headmaster of the Baguio School) in our doings. It was a blow to be forbidden by the elements to start our school in Baguio, but I expect to find the road open day after tomorrow when I shall be in Manila again.
