FOURTH COHORT OF SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DEPART FOR CHINA Nineteen (19) senior government officials last week participated in a pre-departure orientation course before they departed for the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) last week, November 17th. This is the fourth cohort of senior government officials to participate in the CELAP Program and since the inception of this Fiji-China partnership in 2012; this program benefitted 65 senior government officers. Speaking at the orientation, Public Service Permanent Secretary Mr. Parmesh Chand, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Peoples’ Republic of China for making this initiative a reality and a very successful one for those in the public service “This continued partnership and the contribution by the People’s Republic of China to the capacity development of senior public servants has shown signs of improvement as our Officers foster new ideas and ways of thinking amongst their peers.” Mr. Chand also confirmed that PSC had organized 3 half-day seminars in Suva, Labasa and Lautoka to provide returning CELAP participants with an opportunity to share their experience and disseminate the information acquired with officers in Fiji. Mr., Chand said that this information sharing was one of the most integral parts of this initiative; building capacity not only for those who had the opportunity to witness firsthand the prosperity, industry and development taking place in China but also using that to inspire them to enable productivity within their own agencies. The group that will depart today for the two week course will return on December 1st. The team will be led by Acting Commissioner Western Division Mr. Luke Moroivalu who will be assisted by PSC director Corporate Services, Mrs. Joana Koroituinakelo.
