American Corner Bucharest is hosting the Annual American Studies Students’ Conference: “American Identity in Transnational Contexts” Date: May 9, 2014 Venue: American Corner Bucharest, National Library of Romania The Department of American Studies at the University of Bucharest invites proposals for 15-minute contributions to this year’s conference theme. The contributions may address the issue of American identity from a range of perspectives and (cross-)disciplinary approaches. The transnational aspect encourages the development of a wider conceptual framework in an attempt to move beyond national borders. Contributions can be either: - Academic papers on issues pertaining to American identity in transnational contexts (1800 words) OR - Creative writing pieces engaging/reflecting/refracting the issue of American identity in transnational contexts (pieces or selections not exceeding 2000 words) Submission Guidelines: Your submission must include: 1. A 250-word abstract attached as an MS Word file. Your abstract must include the paper title and the name of the academic coordinator who has agreed to supervise the writing of your paper; OR (for creative writing submissions) the entire piece/the selections you wish to read; 2. 5 keywords from your essay; 3.
