Amidst my device free spree, I saved two lives with one motion! Went to the YMCA tonight, and this little girl went down the slide twice right? Well the second time, I was watching...on instinct. She struggled to swim to the ladder, and her dad sat on the side cheering her on. She struggled longer than he was comfy with, so he jumped in...but also couldnt swim. They started to sink together, and he managed to get Help! out before going under. I was two seconds away from them to begin with, so I swam to them, grabbed him from behind around his ribs, he grabbed his girl and shoved her to the ladder (they werent too far away by then, but still) while I helped them both over to the side. The lifeguard was spacing out, looking towards the shallow end. When my mom told him what I did, he just kinda laughed it off and explained how he told someone there not to swim in the deep end. That doesnt excuse the lack of action! He even asked when it happened, if it was just earlier or earlier that day or what! Really? Yeeaaah. Life guard...go back to training. The dad thanked me when I got him out, and came back once they dried off to thank me again before leaving. Then the lifeguards (There were two, but only one was on duty at the time.) both thanked me, and the staff we told on the way out thanked me also. It definitely gives me an internal confidence boost! Got an external one yesterday when some guys were yelling Hey girl! How you doin? when I was taking out the trash. I would have responded of I coulda seen them! Sheesh! As for my device free spree...I think I might catch up on the days Ive been away tomorrow. Give me the rest of today to glow.
