An Outrage over Christmas Indecency! In 2005 in Barcelona, the City council provoked outrage because the official Nativity display did not include any figures defecating. Thats right -- not because it did. Because it didnt. Apparently, there is a tradition in Catalonia of including in Nativity scenes a figure defecating. I read some of the explanations on wikipedia, but, still, no clue. Something about fertilizing the earth. In any case, it is considered symbolic, not disrespectful. The tradition has evolved quite a bit, so now your own Nativity need not have a plain pooping plebeian. Instead, you can get Einstein, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Iron Man, or even Obama.
