An anonymous parent writes: I have two highly gifted (one possibly profoundly gifted, depending on the tests you look at) daughters, ages 11 and 7, and have really struggled with time management and chore responsibilities with them. We have tried nearly everything we can think of, and once the novelty wears off for them, they no longer stick to it no matter how consistent we try to be. In all of the books and resources I have read regarding gifted children, I have yet to find a really great tried-and-true solution for this. (Probably because gifted children can vary so much! But I know time management and dreaming is an issue with many of them.) Weve tried so many chore chart-type things, and rewards-type things (time on electronics earned, fun dates or trips to choose from once you earn so much, etc., even monetary allowance), but Im wondering if there is one (or a few) that are targeted for gifted kids, or that parents of gifted children have had more success with? I feel like weve tried it all, but I know thats not possible and would love to hear if there are any that are successful for the long haul!
