And this week was the week that images from NASAs Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft strongly suggested the Red Planet could be wet... very wet. In the warm season, water may be gushing down canyons on Mars according to the images which show lengthening dark streaks, which fade away as the planet cools. The scientists who analyzed the images believe that the planet may even have groundwater. The subsurface is probably the best place to find present-day life if it exists at all because it is protected from the radiation and temperature extremes. nature/news/water-seems-to-flow-freely-on-mars-1.14343?WT.mc_id=FBK_NPG_1312_NatureNews Credit: NASA
