Andy Dresher, Craig Weinbaum, East Naples Fire Dept, and Alex Callegari, of Boca Raton Fire Dept, visited the 9/11 memorial in New York City on 9/13/14, It was a very sobering experience. They were accompanied by Joe Bonanno who was literally just leaving the FDNY Ladder 3 firehouse as the call came in on 9-11-01 (small plane into the world trade Ctr) was the report. Ladder 3 responded. The magnitude of the day was quickly realized and Joe immediately returned to get to the scene…The entire Ladder 3 crew perished when the buildings collapsed . The recovered mangeled frame of ladder 3 is now in the heart of the memorial. Joe quietly walked up to the display and said, that he was in that cab moments before it left the station… The rear door of the cab is propped up against the hulk, Joe reached into the display and touched the door handle. The emotions running through him will only be known to him. This was Joes 1st visit to the memorial.
