Another great day at the Bloomingdale Avenue project!! We had a great crew arrive to work today inspire of all the events that our volunteer families had going on this graduation weekend. Early in the day a few of our more experienced workers came to help get everything underway. As always the hardest part of the job is getting started! With their help the roof sheathing job got off to a good start! When some of the workers had to leave because of other commitments, the rest of the crew picked up the pace and we completed the back side of the roof sheathing and it is now just about ready for the felt paper and shingles, We had a new volunteer stop by to get acquainted and has promised to come work with us, his expertise in roofing will be a more than welcome addition to our crew. Speaking of our crew, we need to give a special thanks to the 3 volunteers who finished the last of the sheathing on the back of the house. Eric from our partner Family, John our Architect, and Gary our President of the Board of Directors! After nervously climbing down the extension ladder from spending the afternoon walking on the roof and finishing placing and nailing down the materials all three admitted that they all have a fear of heights!! With such dedicated volunteers, we can do anything!!! We also again must say thank you to the 2 gentlemen from the Victorian House project who came to help us today. Since the fall we have been blessed with many different workers from the house who have given their time an effort to this project. Their contribution of their time has made a huge differenced in getting this project to stay on schedule. Thank you one and all!! Another special thank you to Terri one of our volunteers who brought us a homemade coffee cake in the afternoon. It was a wonderful end to a wonderful day!!! We p;an to be working again next Saturday, again with many different task, Bring any skills you may have and come learn some new ones!! Come when you can, Leave when you have to.
