Another round of mixed results from the club on the weekend. As always we’ll start off with the A’s who after facing some precipitation on the previous Saturday rolled out for a one dayer against Barrabool, having won the toss Barrabool decided they would put the Sharks into Bat and young Kyle was the first to go for 18 with the score on 49, this bought an unusually subdued Hahny to the crease though my spies do tell me it wasn’t for lack of trying to hit the cover off the ball before Iva was removed for 40 with the score on 63 then out strode young Clarky with what some onlookers called a definite swag where him and Hahny took the score along to 113 before Clarky was gone for 30 and looking more and more comfortable in the A’s the inform Wheels came and went for 1, Micka for 10, Hahny for a surprisingly long winded 28, Scull made a nice 20* with small cameos from the tail for a total of 8/175 off our 40 overs. Barrabool got off to a flyer and quickly found themselves hitting the 50 mark and at 1 for 90 were flying especially with Captain Az out of the attack after 2 overs with an abductor strain, 2 quick wickets followed before Barrabool settled again before a late rally from the Sharks gave them some hope taking 4 late wickets but unfortunately Barrabool passed the total with 4 balls remaining and the Sharks looking like the walking wounded with Az’s strain muscled and a hand swelled up like Jordy’s lip, Scull with an ankle swelled up like Jordy’s lip and there was something wrong with Jordy but can’t recall what it was. The B’s travelled out to Barrabool fairly comfortable in the notion that they had 270 odd sitting in the bank and Barrabool never really threatened with wickets falling at regular intervals with young Patty getting some early wickets with 2 for 11 off his 10 overs, Goughy 2 for 11 off 12 but the chief destroyer was Milky who ripped through Barrabool getting 4 for 37 off 19 to see Barrabool all out for 114 for the Sharks to record a sizeable win. C Grade also travelled to Bellbrae very comfortably with 290 sitting in the bank after some big hitting last week, the wickets were shared around the group with Tim Carty’s 3 for 24 the best of the lot, 2 for’s to Hooky, Cooky and Lukas’y with Tyler picking up the last wicket to have Barrabool all out for 123 in the 42nd over to give the boys an early finish in time to get back and watch some A Grade cricket after an emphatic victory. D Grade travelled to Collendina and due to A Grade byes and Sunday games got to play on the hallowed turf of a main ground, Smith winning the toss and deciding to have a bat, Potty and Lachie got things underway with Potty back shortly for 4, Lachie and Nick put on a fine partnership of 64 before Lachie was removed for 21 and Nick shortly after for a fine 41 the boys having set up a fine platform to build off at 2 for 80 after 30, this now bought Cheech and Yella to the crease and Cheech smacked up a very quick fire 29 before he was dismissed with the score on 125, some big hitting followed before Yella ran himself out in the last over for 49 with the score on 170 (didn’t see that coming did you Spriggsy) with Spriggsy hitting his first 6 for the club to see himself not out on 12 with newby Oscar getting 3 as the Sharks made 175. The Sharks went out thinking they had a competitive score on the board, though 5 overs later there was definite concern in the camp and this proved to be the case with Collendina rapidly moving to 83 before losing their first wicket, and didn’t lose the 2nd until the score was on 172 with the Sharks copping a shellacking with the only highlight being debutant Oscar getting his first wicket for the Sharks.
