Another subject of concern is shale gassing (SG). The ground is drilled to depth, chemicals mixed with water under great pressure is then forced into the enclosed area. The chemicals break down rock and any other element releasing the gas caught within. The last 15 years in the US have seen this practice destroy natural water ways and contaminate soil, rendering it un-usable, from gas entering people homes through tap water to whole areas having gas vent up creating dead zones, killing birds in great numbers. Local wildlife is threatened, peoples general health gets diminished and the Earth is unable to resist such a violation against nature. The last 5 years here in AU we have seen and heard of SG, hundreds of farmers have said no and protest against the practise, QLD have banned it, they listened and respected the people instead of profit, alas in NSW we are hearing how the government is forcing farmers to allow the power companies onto their land, set up drilling rigs and with no concern for anything have destroyed surrounding areas of land, no compensation is paid the companies move on and the state government pockets what profits it has agreed on. Today the rules have changed to protect the land owners as far as contamination but not the laws regarding the choice. SG is a very dangerous practice, it is more uncontrollable then they will ever admit, even after a clean up is done the land is un-usable, profit cant replace any local wildlife caught up in the contamination and no media in AU are covering the true events unfolding because of SG, will it be like in the US, profit over people and nature.
