Are there any church lovers out there who are also darned good photographers? Were sure there are, and so we thought youd like to know about a new photography competition: Life and Soul - show your Church in Action. ChurchCare, in association with the Church Times, is calling on photographers of all ages and experience to take part in a competition to celebrate and capture the vast array of worship and community activities that take place within the Church of Englands church buildings and churchyards. The idea is to focus on church activities, rather than buildings – people, not just places - and so they are looking for images which reveal human interaction within church spaces. There are three categories: 1.Worship and prayer 2.Community activities 3.“Chelfie” (you, your church and its people). The judging panel – formed of the Chair of the Church Buildings Council, the Editor and Features Editor of the Church Times and Eamon McCabe, the Picture Editor of The Observer – will meet in November and winners will be contacted shortly after. Thanks to the Church Times, there are up to five first prizes of £150 each. Winners will be recognised in print in the Church Times and featured on the websites and social media of both ChurchCare and the Church Times. All entries will be uploaded onto Flickr and may be used for a travelling exhibition in 2015.
