Army Corps Drops Job-Destroying Reorganization Plan, Thanks to AFGE: Last week we reported that AFGE Local 2930 led by Local President James Dean successfully recruited their local lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to oppose the Army Corps of Engineers’ plan to turn the Buffalo district office in New York into a field office, which would lead to job losses in Chicago and Buffalo. We are happy to report that Reps. Brian Higgins and Chris Collins on Wednesday got their amendment to a spending bill passed in the House to prevent the Corps’ reorganization plan. AFGE Local 2930 will work to ensure that it is retained by lawmakers in the upcoming House-Senate conference.
