Arsenal’s failed deadline day loan move for Chelsea striker - TopicsExpress

Arsenal’s failed deadline day loan move for Chelsea striker Demba Ba leaves the Gunners reliant on just Olivier Giroud as their senior centre-forward. Blues boss Jose Mourinho ‘blocked’ the Senegal international’s proposed loan move to the Emirates following the North Londoners’ sensational acquisition of Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil as the Chelsea boss believed the 24-year-old German maestro made Arsenal ‘title contenders’. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger can call on the services of French youngster Yaya Sanogo along with Nicklas Bendtner and Lukas Podolski, at least once the two latter forwards return to full fitness. 1) Luis Suarez Arsenal had been heavy linked in what was something of a summer saga with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez who had looked set to force his move away from Anfield upon the Gunners’ £40,000,001 bid for the Uruguayan. However, Liverpool blocked the move and ensured the 26-year-old remains on Merseyside this season and, in my estimation, it would take an enormous January bid to even make the Reds consider selling him to a domestic rival. However, we all know that Suarez I capable of some strange behaviour and, once he returns from his ban for biting in a few weeks, he may well disgrace himself further which could change the club’s on his transfer status. 2) Michu Arsenal were also linked with Swansea’s star Spaniard Michu who was nothing short of a sensation at the Liberty Stadium last season. Again, it would take a pretty generous offer to prize him away from Michael Laudrup’s Swans but, if Arsenal really wanted him, they could probably get him if they were willing to put the cash on the table. 3) Demba Ba Then again, there is the potential that the Gunners could reignite their interest in Demba Ba and, whilst Mourinho blocked a loan move, it’s understood Chelsea were open to the idea of a permanent transfer. There is also another Chelsea striker that ought to be in Wenger’s consideration – Fernando Torres may struggled to compete for his place in Mourinho’s side with the arrival of Samuel Eto’o but, again, it would boil down to whether Chelsea would want to let him go to a domestic rival. 4) Christian Benteke Arsenal know all about the big Belgian after their humiliating 3-1 opening day defeat to Aston Villa. The 22-year-old signed a new long-term contract with Villa this summer but I suspect that, like any club, they might be persuaded by a big offer. 5) Jackson Martinez Arsenal may struggle to sign anyone from the Premier League in January as I’ve outlined, so should they look abroad, they could spend their money on someone like Porto striker Jackson Martinez who I’m a big fan of and I’m surprised he wasn’t snapped up this summer. If he continues his exciting form then he surely will be on the radar. The arrival of Mathieu Flamini hints at Wenger’s preference to resign former protégés and he could be tempted to bring back someone like Jeremie Aliadiere who scored 19 goals for Lorient last term and then there’s always Carlos Vela who scored who scored an impressive 14 goals and made 12 assists for Real Sociedad in La Liga.
