As Christmas time draws near I cant help but remember my grandparents and the awful crime that happened just 8 days before Christmas and it dawned on me that my family was not the only family that remembers a tragic durning this time of year. Back in the mid to late 1960s we lived in Pahokee Fla. beside a family from Tennessee. We attended the same church - they were our friends. One Christmas Eve morning. The mom and dad loaded up the 3 little girls and headed to West Palm to finish up their last min Christmas shopping - they were on the hunt to look for a set of drums for one of the boys - and told the boys to clean the deer rifles while they were gone. My sisters and I were told to go clean out daddys car which was parked right beside our friends home. We heard a loud gun shot and screams from the house. Momma and grandma run over to the house to check on the boys. When momma walked in she saw one of the boys laying on the floor in the doorway with blood pumping out of his body as he raised his head trying to speak. The Parents did not find out about this accident until they arrived home latter that evening. They search all over Palm Beach to find a set of drums but could not find one set. That set of drums were for the one who was accidentally shot. This family to gos thru the same pain every year. Just thought Id share the story.
