As I am back in Dubai and my sisters and mom are safe too , I cant thank the Almighty enough for my safe surroundings. This feeling of safety does not last long as I overcome my guilt at being safe , my mind takes me back to the three nights I spent in the hall of my home at Gogji Bagh trapped with 2 other people ,feeling helpless and somewhat anxious as our old house creaked and trembled when it was hit by debris whirling around. As I saw peoples lives literally being washed out I felt weak thinking of my kids in far away Canada ,thankfully I had grabbed water and some food before our house was deluged upto the second level .The choppers and boats passed by but my turn came on 4th day Wednesday 10th September ,when a fellow kashmiri Syed Altaf from Soura who is a raft man in Nigeen club became my saviour. He loaded the 3 of us in his raft and we were finally on dry ground. I am sorry Altaf I did not thank you enough at that time but now I take this opportunity to thank you , I will be grateful forever to you , also he represents the youth , volunteers and army personnel who worked tirelessly in horrid conditions to save lives .So I thank you all . I like many kashmiris am devastated by the calamity and hope our motherland will rise again, for now we need each other. Finally a prayer for people did not make it , May Allah keep them in peace.
