As a parent who was raised by a mother who completely spoiled me & enabled me, one thing Ive done in raising my own is to never enable them. Im proud to say that my kids all 5 are pretty independent from my 4 year old to my 16 year old. As parents I firmly believe by experience that if you enable a child you are a crutch. Yes we as parents are here to help & teach but I believe it is through instruction & through example. Im by far a perfect mother but Im pretty darn proud of myself because Ive single handed raised 4 exemplary kids on my own.
