As a precaution, Beacon Health System, which includes Elkhart General Hospital and Memorial Hospital of South Bend, is limiting visitation in some areas of the hospital for children under 12 years of age. This restriction is in response to a high volume of respiratory illnesses within our communities. This respiratory virus has been affecting children in this age group. Therefore, visitors 12 years of age and under are not permitted to visit the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Pediatrics, Maternity, or Mother/Baby Unit at Elkhart General Hospital or Memorial Hospital at this time. This restriction will remain in place until further notice. In addition, we encourage people of all ages to not visit any area of either hospital if they are ill. Thank you for helping us provide the safest environment possible for our patients.
