As it was a fairly dry this morning I decided to take the dog onto the fields at the back of our house. So about twenty minutes into the walk I decided to cut across a freshly ploughed field, coz Im a rebel, and ended up in the middle of nowhere. With woods to onside and field to the other I lost myself in the tranquility and took a quiet comfort in being the only person around. Thats when I noticed from behind me. where I had previously walked from, a 4x4 Jeep driving slowly towards me. I started to feel a bit nervous and decided the best thing to do was to keep walking as if I hadnt noticed the vehicle and head for a little footpath on the far side of the field. I could sense the Jeep gradually creeping toward me, unseen, and when I did finally turn round it was only a few metres away, its pace reduced to a slow crawl. I could see the shadowed outline of the driver but continued on for the footpath. Thats how it stayed, me Ignoring the massive 4x4 and him creeping behind me and the dog. Atleast it was until he stopped. Noticing the absence of the dull hum of the engine I looked round to see the driver outside the jeep, shutting the door with the butt of his shotgun. So there I was, having cockily cut through a secluded field in the hope of avoiding any morning dog walkers, alone and secluded, stalked by a man with a shotgun. I kept walking, headphones on but void of music, just listening. I eventually made it to the footpath just as I heard the first shot. Obviously not at me, but I couldnt help imagining that perhaps he had someone tied up in the boot and having seen me, waited until I was just out of view to murder this poor man. On later reflection he was probably just a farmer. Throughout the entire ordeal I was wearing no pants.
