As of right now, the surgery is still a go. They were having - TopicsExpress

As of right now, the surgery is still a go. They were having trouble getting him to wake up enough to do his neuro exams, especially when they asked him to move his legs or wiggle his toes, but the assumption is that he just couldnt shake the sedative enough to do what they were asking. They planned to give him a little more time to get the sedative out of his system, try the exams again, and then give him just enough sedative to help him relax until surgery but not enough to put him back out. Other than that, they are proceeding with all the little tasks they need to do before they take him to the O.R., which is very encouraging. The possibility always exists that they would have to cancel the surgery again at the last minute, but we are hoping and praying that doesnt happen. And like I said, its encouraging that they are continuing to do their prep work here in the room. Hes on the schedule for 11:30, but as I explained in my last post, if the patient before him takes longer than expected, his surgery would then take place later in the day. The O.R. is booked for 4 hours, but they say the actually surgery should take about an hour & a half, barring any complications. Keeping all that in mind, please dont be alarmed if it seems to take me a long time to update again. I know you are all concerned about how hes doing and I will definitely get you updated as soon as I can. Thanks again for all your prayers - they are definitely making a difference!
