As the end of 2014 draws to a close I have seen a lot of things - TopicsExpress

As the end of 2014 draws to a close I have seen a lot of things throughout this year and I must say that most are good yet there is something that still sticks in my craw. So friends I will say it as I see it. I walk dogs at my local shelter at least five days a week, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on the weather. It is great when I see so many people who are committed in taking them out, giving them their time to be able to stretch their legs and show them a little bit of love. Being confined for 24 hours a day can make any dog feel lost and defeated until that special person comes along and says lets go home. The greatest feeling in the world knowing that you have made a difference.. Now comes the part that I hate. You have a volunteer that comes to walk the babies and the first thing they do when they get them out is rummage in their pocket and pull out their cell phones to chat with their friends and it doesnt stop until they are ready to take them back in. #1 they dont watch where they are walking, pay no attention to the animal and where is that bit of love each should be shown. If you want to walk keep your cell phones where they should be, in your pocket, concentrate on the dog for that half hour and then take a break before you take out another and if you must talk then that is the time before you go back to walk another and not until. I truly think that shelters should specify NO CELL calls until you have brought your charge back inside. Give the babies your time and love, teach them a few things to get them adopted, that is what you are there for. End of my ranting for today.
