As the kids and I were on our way to meet my husband for lunch, we were stopped by a red light on 27, right in front of Rumpke-we were the very first car at the light. As we were sitting at the light, a Rumpke truck tbones a red ford focus right in front of my van. I pull my van into the grass, grab my phone and run over to the car to see if they are okay. As Im running, I see the driver, as I approach the car, the driver turns around and starts reaching for the back seat. I get to the car and realize that there is a baby in the back seat and that the baby was hit by the truck! My heart dropped....... I am trying to pull open the driver side back door, but its locked, so I start banging my hand on the window and yell unlock the door! Dont move the baby!! Dont move the baby! The Mom unlocks the door, and I slide into the glass filled back seat. The baby is covered in blood. I reach into the diaper bag, trying to find wipes, to wipe her face, the Mom is screaming and crying, I am crying and shaking. By this time, there were other people around the car, I ask if anyone had a flashlight on them. A guy hands me one, I start checking the babys pupils for brain damage and dilation. I am trying to take the babys pulse, but I am shaking so bad, and my mind (and heart) are racing! I am also trying to explain to the Mom why she cant pick her baby up: She was hit pretty hard, if there is damage done to her spine, we can hurt her more by moving her while her neck isnt stabilized. The medics are on their way, shes going to be okay. Her pupils are dilating normally, shes reaching for the flashlight and she can move her head. I start asking the mom questions :Whats your Name? Whats your babys name? Are you okay? She replied: I need a hug! I get out of the back seat, and go hug the mom and pray for her and her daughter. Finally, the medics arrive and take the Mom and baby away. The reason I am writing this is because I want to find the Mom and baby to make sure everyone is okay! The Moms name is Nicole and the baby girls name is Ava (about 18 months old). I dont know their last names. The wreck happened on 12/16/14 in on Colerain Ave. between 12:30 & 1:30 pm. I overheard the medics say they were taking the baby to Childrens. This post was made public, so the anyone can view it. Please share and help me find them!! I keep thinking and praying for them!
