As the mother of an autistic boy who had a school call the cops on him, you dont even wanna know how i feel about this. I could write a book!!!! The cop that was called was extremely understanding and had a nephew that is autistic. To this day, that cop still checks up on my son. He was at the school and before he even knew my dad was a judge, he stepped in and stopped them From handcuffing my son and he allowed me AND my sons personal counselor from outside the school system to help my son. Then my dad stepped in to have words with the Admin. The principal also left at the end of the school year too. My son has been in private counseling for years. He is seen by specialist every three months, he is also being seen by the Marcus Autism Center. I dare ANYONE to tell me that Im a bad parent and Im not doing my job and my son needs to be taken from me. I DARE THEM. it wont ever happen. Ive made sure of it. That poor cop got an ear full from me and he made a very smart decision backing down and understanding the whole situation. I hear horror stories like this one EVERY DAY on my autism support groups. It is awful and horrible. HORRIBLE AND SCARY. And if you think it doesnt happen, you are wrong! This also ties into the prison system is the new slavery. What happens to a kid when they are 13-17 and still struggle with mental disabilities and are in a school system that doesnt give a shit? They of to jail!!!! The system IS BROKEN. I could go on and on. But i wont. I will ask every single person that reads this to do something for me. For my son. For every single kid out there that is struggling with a disability that isnt seen. BE KIND. DONT JUDGE. SHOW COMPASSION. OFFER HELP TO THE CARE GIVER OF THAT CHILD. BE KIND!!!!
