As we arrive at that gear time of year I am always inundated with Christmas music…even before Thanksgiving. I just wish that…say…Delilah would play this one. The Beatles began putting a Christmas greetings disc inside their fan club magazine in 1963…they did so every year thereafter. They never topped that 1963 version…and it was also the last one they would do at which they were not all so stoned that they could not feel their faces during the recording session. Another thing that is also evident: John Lennon was really the most intellectual Rock star of all time. The stuff he is saying is just hilarious but very deep. Lennon was one of the only people I have known of who could be so deep yet not come off as an affectation.
