As weve seen, suffering can narrow our vision. That makes Jesuss - TopicsExpress

As weve seen, suffering can narrow our vision. That makes Jesuss Passion all the more remarkable. When Jesus is under tremendous pressure, he never stops loving. When the women weep over him as he walks to Golgotha, Jesus is more concerned for their coming suffering than for his own. Remember, observations such as suffering narrows our vision are not rules. We are not trapped by descriptions of life. The person of Jesus defines life for us, allowing us not to be locked in by our circumstances. The Spirit of Jesus gives us the power to love, no matter what our circumstances [and also, no matter the persons response]. What does that mean for us? Even in overwhelming, difficult situations, we dont have to be controlled by our feelings. Like Naomi [in the book of Ruth], we can express our feelings, but we can still do the right thing. ~Paul E. Miller, in A Loving Life in a World of Broken Relationships [with added notes]
