As you drive along the road coming into Tenwek Hospital, there are two enormous water towers that have the slogan for the hospital, We Treat, Jesus Heals. This woman has been on our service for weeks prior to our arrival. She has multiple infections from multiple different organisms, including an atypical form of meningitis. Her vision was lost during the hospitalization due to the meningitis. We treated her with all of the medications that we had available, and we prayed that God would heal her and bring her vision back. Over the past few days her vision gradually improved, at first being able to see shades of grey and shapes, followed by being able to see more during daytime. Today when we made rounds she was able to see well enough to care for her own baby. I asked if I could take a picture of her, and then I showed her her own image on my cellphone. She was so excited that she could see her own image on the screen. She was doing so well that we were able to send her home with oral medications. It was a great day, indeed!
