Assessing the economic impact of the coal trails moving through - TopicsExpress

Assessing the economic impact of the coal trails moving through areas like golden gardens and the ballard locks is not comprehensive enough to fully understand them. The coal trains are uncovered, and the coal contains arsenic. What does this mean? It means that all the ducks, beavers, salmon, turtles, and seals on our waterfront and in the lake at the golden gardens will be periodically exposed to arsenic. In order for us to comprehend the impact we have on the world, we need to be broadminded and assess all impacts of our actions-- not just self derived concerns. If you get a chance, take a walk at golden gardens, to the beaver habitat that is 10 feet from the coal trains that will pass. Take a look at the ducks cleaning their feathers in the water, the turtles taking in sunshine, and the beavers who call it home. Then, only then, do you understand the true impact. ted/talks/bernie_krause_the_voice_of_the_natural_world.html
