At a risk of sounding like a Philistine - the coverage of BBC - TopicsExpress

At a risk of sounding like a Philistine - the coverage of BBC Young Music of the Year is rather irritating and cliche. Not only have they decided to appoint two musicians to present, who have clearly been chosen as much for their looks as for their musical abilities, they then spend the bare minimum of time on the performances themselves, often cutting them short or interrupting them with idle chit chat. Presumably this is because they think the prospective viewer is comparable to those that watch other talent shows (BGT, XFactor etc) and has the attention span of a nat. Oh - and they go all X factor on your ass by spending 15 minutes profiling the competitors. As much as it is interesting to find out more about those competing - do I need to know that such and such player likes rock climbing?
