At midnight today begins what many call the Day of the Dead. It - TopicsExpress

At midnight today begins what many call the Day of the Dead. It is a celebration of our ancestors. It is a time when the veil between the two worlds - the living and the dead - is considered the thinnest. Of note Halloween was originally a Christianized version of the pagan holiday Samhain - a harvest festival which marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. It is interesting to me that so many folks have let their fears create an idea and belief about what Halloween means. It has become a day during which people have strong visceral reactions because they allow fear to create an illusion. I hope that on this day you will recognize that we have completed yet another cycle of life and are moving into another - which allows us to turn inward and really think about our lives. I also hope that you will give some thought to your ancestors - it was their love that created your physical manifestation in this time and place. Let us celebrate today and put aside the fears that have been created, sustained, and maintained by men through the years. Give energy to love and all that it has created and will create in this new cycle of life!
