At the moment Im considering some tuning changes to my favorite guitar and as someone who uses Daddario strings religiously Ive found this REALLY valuable so I thought Id share it cos its a really useful tool. What itll do is calculate the tension in pounds of your guitar string if you feed in the string gauge, scale length and note you wanna tune to. So for example I wanna start tuning to Drop A#, Im playing Drop C right now and I LOVE the way my guitar feels, my low E is at about 13 and a half pounds of tension so I can then feed that into another calculator along with my 26.5 scale and the note I wanna tune to (A# in this case) and itll tell you the gauge thatll give the closest tension. For me it looks like DAddario Heavy but Im tempted by the Heavy Bottom Medium Top because my higher 5 strings are tuned in all fourths so I go sharp half a step with my two highest strings and am always cringing when tuning them up. So yeah, thought Id show this to people cos I only found out about it recently, share it around with your guitarist and guitar tech friends, really useful!
