At what point? ------- Where is the line drawn between imagination and reality? At what point does a childs insecurities, ignorance, and imagination ... make them a true believer? Follow the progress: Tell me when they become a justified and true believing theist. 1. Child feels alone; isnt good at making friends. 2. Child is treated by their parents like they are broken and in-need of fixing. 3. Child craves validation. 4. Child discovers the wonderful power of imagination. 5. Child invents imaginary friend. 6. Invisible friends name is Bob. 7. Bob likes Child. 8. Bob validates Child. 9. Child feels more worthy and less broken. 10. Child still messes up sometimes; but Bob is very forgiving. 11. Bob becomes less impressive, as Childs ambitions grow. 12. Child grants Bob super powers. 13. Bobs friendship and validation start to mean more to Child again. 14. One day, Child cant find his glasses. Spends 30 minutes searching. Child needs his glasses. Child returns to bedroom. Discovers glasses in a place Child is sure that Child searched before. No one else is home; except for Bob. 15. Bob found Childs glasses and put them where Child could find them 16. Childs faith in Bob grows. 17. Bob becomes even more real to Child; somewhat of a physical incarnation; but only Child has the ears to hear and the eyes to see. 18. Bobs true friends are the ones that hear his voice. 19. Bob also loves sheep; very very much. 20. On a good day, Bob finds himself in sheep and his sheep find themselves in him. 21. Bob predicts day when his sheep will become his bride. 22. Childs imagination is maturing; and is obviously venturing into inappropriate fantasies about Bob. But Bob approves; and that is all that matters. 23. Child attends a Church. 24. Child learns about someone with even more super powers than Bob; but still far less than Chuck Norris. 25. This Jesus guy is amazing! 26. And Child is pretty sure Chuck Norris isnt real. You cant fool Child. So Bob doesnt need to worry about competing. 27. Child likes most things about the Jesus guy; except for the part where Child is forbidden from holding down a home, a job, or making much money in his lifetime because the end is near. Child also doesnt like how Child is not supposed to ever ever ever defend himself in person nor in court, if Child ever stands accused. 28. Child wants to keep the appealing lore and ignore the inconvenient bits. 29. Child RENAMES Bob. Bobs new name is Jesus. 30. Bob now has a mostly identical history and powers, compared to the earlier Jesus. 31. Child eventually accepts that Bob (aka Jesus) is real, hides in an invisible golden floating city, and has a list of rules that Child needs to follow, or else Jesus wont validate Child anymore. 32. The distinctions between Bob and Jesus vanish. Child simply decides that Child knew instinctively about Jesus, but just didnt have the details right before. 33. Child rejoices that Jesus Bob Christ chose to reveal his life-saving biography through illiterate sheep herders, cultists, and slavers in the middle of nowhere In the Bronze Age. 34. Child drops the Bob from Jesuss list of aliases. Bob? lol What was I thinking? There were no Bobs in that place and time. There was Jameses, Toms, Tims, Mary(ies), Peters, Pauls, etc. wandering the bronze age deserts near Palestine. But no Bobs. 35. Child is glad to see the world in black and white terms through the eyes of a child. This is what Jesus prefers. This is why Child is blessed.
