Atiku, G7 in secret talks Urge Atiku to drop 2015 presidential ambition Barely 48 Hours after a Federal High Court ruled that members of the New Peoples Democratic Party should stop parading themselves as a faction of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, a secret meeting that lasted several hours between some of the aggrieved governors and former Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku was held in Yola. Adamawa State Governor, Rear Admiral Murtala Nyako, the Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu were most visible at the round-table talk which was also presided by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Though the meeting was under close supervision, sources reveal that on the agenda was permutation on how to frustrate President Goodluck Jonathan 2015 bid, which they claimed has been a major concern to the G7. As the meeting went into the wee hours of night, investigation also revealed that the Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu had joined others who were present at the meeting to warn the Former Vice President from contesting under the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM, as it lacks the veritable structure that can favorably compete with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the platform under which President Jonathan might get the ticket to contest. While the debate on the issue lasted, it was agreed that in the event that the picture becomes clearer that President Jonathan would seek another term, all hands must be on deck to work for the newly registered All Progressive Congress, APC, a party according to them is more formidable than the PDM in the present circumstances. Feelers also said that the new decision might not be unconnected with the recent visit of the National Vice Chairman, North East Zone of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Alhaji Umar Duhu who was at the Adamawa State Government House, where he also condemned the closure of the Adamawa Governor’s lodge. At the turbaning ceremony of the new Talba of Adamawa, Mr. Daniel Bwala, the Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, said it is the resolve of the G7 to protect the collective interest of the country and North in particular. “People tend to misinterpret the intention of the G7 Governors. It is not for our selfish interest, but in the interest of the country and the North at large. We are not working towards discrimination. We are looking for equity, fairness and those elders who are more concerned with their personal interest are not doing us well. We will come out more united and peace can’t come if we do not make move towards it” he said.
