The last century has been called by experts as "The Age of Physics", the current century is predicted to be "The Age of Biology". Although, no such field exists that requires the skills of only a particular field of engineering - be it mechanical, electrical or computer science. Regarding Mechanical Engineering, the following areas are analysed as the most viable of the emerging fields. 1. Nanotechnology 2. Bio-Engineering 3. Smart Materials 4. Renewable Energy 5. Battery/Storage Technology The above mentioned fields are the most active in the domain of Mechanical Engineering. Although, a majority of the work in many of the mentioned fields is prominent at the research phase, but they are predicted to become the top employing fields for Mechanical Engineers in the future.
