August 1, 2014 City and County of Denver Department of Public Safety Daelene Mix, Communications Director 720.490.1945 [email protected] City of Denver Supports Local National Night Out Events To Promote Community Safety & Crime-Prevention Awareness DENVER, CO – The Mayor’s Office, City Council and the Department of Public Safety are working with neighborhoods, local businesses, civic organizations, and non-profit groups to assist Denver’s communities in hosting National Night Out (NNO) events on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. NNO events provide an opportunity for communities to stand together in a unified front to promote community safety. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness; build support and participation in local anti-crime strategies; and strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and law enforcement partners. NNO is part of the City’s second annual “Denver Days” - a citywide initiative designed to foster neighborhood camaraderie by providing tools and services that can be used to host neighborhood service projects and community gatherings during the month of August. Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Executive Director of Safety Stephanie Y. O’Malley, Chief of Police Robert White, Sheriff Elias Diggins, Fire Chief Eric Tade, and other public safety personnel will visit NNO events throughout the City to promote public safety-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Below is a list of this year’s NNO events. C.H.U.N.
