Australia Approves Airstrikes Against ISIS Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced on Friday that Australia will conduct airstrikes, and deploy special forces troops to help fight Islamic State militants in Iraq. Abbott said in a press conference that Australian troops will join U.S.-led coalition forces to support the Iraqi government in its fight against ISIS. Only Iraq can defeat ISIL, but Iraq shouldnt be alone, he said. And as far as Australia and our allies are concerned, Iraq wont be alone.
