Ayanda Gcaba is set to have his contract renewed by Orlando Pirates in the coming weeks, with the club keen to retain him beyond the expiry of his current deal in June. According to a source close to the Port Shepstone-born centre-back, Bucs have already expressed their interest in extending his stay at the club, and the two parties are expected to meet in the near future. Pirates want Ayanda to stay and the player wants to stay too. So, we expect him to sign a new contract with the club, the source told Goal. Gcaba joined the Sea Robbers from Free State Stars in 2012, and despite initially struggling to adapt to life at Pirates, he continued to push himself harder until he was given a fair chance by Roger de Sa. The 28-year-old left-footed player, who can also play as a left-back, has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Nedbank Cup holders this season. His teammate Thabo Matlaba has already signed a new five-year contract , and it remains to be seen whether Pirates will offer Gcaba a long-term deal or not. #mhlongo
