BALANCING - ACT AS OGUN STATE HEAD - HUNTS A GOVERNOR - ELECT . As we excitedly herald 2015 with defining expectations, political events in Ogun State continues to pan-out. We observe a landscape in real-time riddled with interesting maneuvers, deft moves, selfish-induced posturings, eleventh-hour re-alignments, questionable decisions & presumptive permutations. But going-forward, if our constant is still Amosun Must Go (AMG), then Ogun needs to sing a new song, chant a new rhyme, chorus a new symphony, in arriving at a harmonious melody: Which must resonate in equal measure with our rich, our poor, the needy, the retirees, students, professionals & unemployed. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might have settled for a Yewa ticket in Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), Social Democratic Party (SDP) may have handed their ticket to a recently arrived Dimeji Bankole (DB) to give a presumed PDP walk-over a bruising & devastating run-in; incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) may be hinging victory on disarray in opposition camps, but Ogun State is not a docile State & we expect a sting in the tail of a Labour Party (LP) candidate Sina Kawonise (SK), who has pretty much been written-off. Which shows that nothing is cast-in-stone, nothing is settled, nothing is a forgone conclusion & the so-called big parties are not yet home and dry. But, how do we set about our executive search ? What exactly is our goal for election 2015 ? What class of Governor do we intend to elect ? We must not delude ourselves, Ogun electorate needs to strike a balance between what we desire & what is on offer, between identified weaknesses & what we can live with and between skills we are familiar with & opportunities yet to be revealed. Certainly, Ogun State merits a multi-dimensional Governor who is more hands-on, more business-minded, more ambitious & actively seeking creative means to turn our visions into reality; with focus, fortitude, forbearance & determination. At the forth-coming gubernatorial debates, we must prise useful answers that would go the distance in determining quality on display, articulation about sectoral challenges & the way forward. Lets not spare the candidates, lets make them sweat, toil & deliver memorable sound-bites. Lets gauge their perceptions of Ogun State within a time-frame of four years - at least, lets sneak insights into their thoughts, beliefs, ambitions for us & how they intend to unlock our potentials. In the end, lets convince ourselves that we have had a keen contest. Lets not forget though that a goal is a dream with a deadline; but remember that 28th February 2015 is our deadline when Ogun electorate must deliver the best all-round & relatively balanced Governor-elect. But come to think about it, is it not high time we looked beyond career politicians for succor ? Are career politicians better administrators ? In reality, career politicians are only experienced in old systems that have failed us, old policies that do not measure-up, old expired methodologies that have stunted our growth & old un-imaginative solutions that have proved dead-on-arrival at every sector of our economy. Is past or present membership of our National Assembly an antidote to good governance ? Is expensive campaign funding in the way of sifting for promising leadership material among our youths ? Are our women-folk ambitious enough to be taken seriously for high office ? Are Ogun citizens in diaspora still current with challenges within the State to make a difference if given a chance ? These are issues that have to engage & agitate our electorate as we attempt to maintain a balancing-act in pursuit of our Governor-elect. SK, the LP Governorship candidate is our smart, home-bred politician with attributes of Composure to stay the course; Commitment to transfix eyes-on the-ball; Contentment not to get carried-away with perks of office; Compassion for pitiful plight of our people; Consensus-building with stakeholders; Capacity utilization of our resources; Containment of our fiscal downward spiral; Complete focus to see-through reforms to conclusion & Confidence to be transparently fair to all. Need we be reminded that SK belongs to a different specie of politicians who are Convinced enough, Concerned enough, Courageous enough & Competent enough to make a transformational difference in Ogun State. SK is coming ! SK is the real catalyst to propel Ogun State to our next level of greatness !! SK is OK as Ogun State Governor !!!
