BEIRUT - Four members of the Lebanese Shiite party Hezbollah were killed while fighting in Syria, a resistance website reported on Saturday. The website South Lebanon identified three of the fighters as Moussa Ahmad Saqr from Beqaa’s Hermel, and Ali al-Sheikh Rida Hijazi and Hussein Ali Alloush from Nabatiyeh’s Al-Zahrani. The report added that the fighters “passed away while carrying out their sacred Jihadist duty.” A video was also posted on the website showing “Mujahed” Al-Hajj Thou al-Fiqar Ahmad Hammoud Haidar participating in fighting in Syria before he was killed. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah admitted in May that it was sending fighters into Syria to support the troops of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The move widened the division of Lebanese between pro- and anti-Damascus camps, and raised the level of rhetoric against Hezbollah for not respecting and abiding by the Baabda Declaration, which calls for disassociating Lebanon from regional and international conflicts
