BONDAGE BREAKERS A Proven Path to Recovery (By Pastor Robert Iannuccilli) Of ALL the treatment I underwent in my recovery from Chemical Addiction and Substance Abuse, none served me so well as AA. This being said, still, I discovered that AA has intentionally veered from its original foundations, as rooted in Christ, to embrace a wider group of struggling addicts. Some time back, I was called upon to begin a group of my own to help struggling addicts. Recognizing I could not improve upon AAs success, I chose to build upon it. In creating Bondage Breakers, I distilled 7 essential ingredients from the 12 Steps of AA to formulate the basis of gathering and seeking Christs aid and strength in the recovery process. Many of the guidelines of AA are kept in tact such as limiting the meetings to a single hour, committing to anonymity and confidentiality, accepting those who wish to remain more fully free and distant from their addictions as as well as those who presently struggle with addiction in an ongoing sense. We encourage sharing, but dont demand it. Keep Coming Back is also our motto... It is crucial to Going On! Further, I recognize that there are several other valid and vital Christian Recovery Programs that God is using today. Still, having had more personal experience with the cunning, powerful and baffling nature of addiction than I would like to admit, I felt the right, if not the mandate, to formulate a program based on my own experiences and journey. Here are the 7 steps I feel God gave me one morning as I awoke... 1. Get Ready (I’m Desperate) Admitting I am powerless over my addiction and that my life has become unmanageable. 2. Get Trust (I’m Dependent) Came to believe that God could and would restore me to sanity. 3. Get Surrendered (I’m Willing) Made a decision to turn my will and life over to the care of God. 4. Get Honest (I’m Truthful) Became completely truthful about the exact nature of my wrongs. 5. Get Right (I’m Responsible) Became ready to accept full responsibility for my wrongs and to forgive those who have wronged me. 6. Get Diligent (I’m Committed) Determined to shut the door on my addiction and ruin, and to pursue the Lord and His plan for my life on a daily basis. 7. Get Involved (I’m Giving) Became ready and willing, by example and testimony, to help another addict find a hopeful, joyous and free life through Christ. 1. Get Ready (I’m Desperate) 2. Get Trust (I’m Dependent) 3. Get Surrendered (I’m Willing) 4. Get Honest (I’m Truthful) 5. Get Right (I’m Responsible) 6. Get Diligent (I’m Committed) 7. Get Involved (I’m Giving) The Promises (I’m Blessed) As a result of taking these steps we will possess a new lease on life. We will know a newfound peace and joy. The sense of hopelessness, uselessness and futility will leave us. God’s promises will unfold before us and His blessings will begin to multiply in our lives. We will be fruitful and productive. A sense of worth and dignity will be ours. We gradually will be able to handle situations that used to baffle us. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in others. Our whole attitude and outlook on life will change. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. Are these extravagant promises? We think not! They are being fulfilled among us – sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly. They will always materialize…if we work for them. IF YOU (or anyone else you know) Presently STRUGGLE with Addiction or wish to remain more fully free and grow in your sobriety, I urge you to JOIN US This Tuesday for 1 Hour in BONDAGE BREAKERS... You wont be Sorry!
